Hear my enigmatic tale of human's waning glory,
Of natures fading beauty, this was surely not July.
This phlegmatic creature, flailing but resourceful,
Tried to fight the natural order

He would sample breakfast meat underneath the cover sheet
Then look for a better drag, or a net to keep from falling.
Feeling all the heavy weight that settles in the muscle,
He would wonder, "Why?"

I've got to get higher.
I have to find the man on the mountain.

He packed his sack in his roof rack to romance this latest fancy,
Then set out searching for a higher peak to which he could aspire.
Some days he felt like money -- sometimes not worth a dime.
At night he dreamed of climbing.

Finding it impossible, defining lines fine
Between the lefts-behind, and the rights still left to find
He spied a street sign. It seemed right in his mind.
It prophesied his demise.

Those who strive to find the piper find they're one of two types:
A wise man finds his own pipes;
Fools are lead away by mice.

Deciding on this precipice never to regress he stepped up and made his egress

In the end my friends, he found and climbed his mountain peak,
Whereupon arriving realized there was nothing there to seek...
